A Principal Investigator (PI) is generally considered as the knowledge seeker for a project and is expected to financially commit to hosting the expert(s). This arrangement allows the PI to host the expert(s) at their institute or at another institute of their choice. In the alternative, a PI may already have a team of associates that require training and who themselves may want to become as the expert.
