The workshop was hosted at the CPGR’s laboratories, located in the Institute for infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine (IIDMM) at the University of Cape Town. The workshop was designed to address many of the critical issues facing proteomics facilities performing quantitative proteomics including study design, sample preparation and labeling.
The workshop consisted of three components; a theoretical discussion on matters related to iTRAQ and general proteomics, a hands on wet-lab workshop where samples, supplied by ABSciex, were prepared and analysed by workshop participants, and a bioinformatics/ data analysis component specifically dedicated to the application of Protein Pilot software.
The workshop was presented and facilitated by Marjorie Minkoff from ABSciex, who was assisted by Mare Vlok , Busiswa Kekana and Penny Hsu from the CPGR.
The target audience included MSc, PhD’s, Post Doctoral Fellows and Senior Scientists.
